The Stuffie Nappy has been designed to be a lightweight daytime cloth
nappy and also an absorbant nightime cloth nappy.
As a nightime cloth nappy is designed to be absorbant which means it's bulky
and therefore unsuitable for daytime use.
Daytime nappies are designed for easier movement and less absorbtion and so
are unsuitable for nightime use.
It is possible to use a booster with a daytime nappy, however people who have
done this will know that it produces other problems:
As a child moves in the night so will the booster, and sometimes this affects
the amount of absorbtion of the nappy.
Using a booster in a daytime nappy makes the nappy bulky and the elasticity
of daytime nappies are not designed for this. As a result the level of containment
of the nappy can be reduced.
The Stuffie Nappy has been designed with these two problems in mind.
It has been made with a 'Terry' outer and a complete interior fleece lining. The
gusset has been elasticated to aid the containment of the nappy.
On it's own it is a lightweight, two piece, shaped, daytime cloth nappy.
So then, how does it become an absorbant nightime nappy?
At the back of the Stuffie Nappy there is a small opening that creates
a pouch within nappy. This is to enable a booster to be placed inside the nappy
for nightime use.
As the booster is on the inside of the nappy this negates the effect of the child
moving around and displacing the booster.
It also does not have an adverse affect on the level of containment. Because the
booster is on the inside, it doesn't stretch the elastic to the extent that it
no longer has the desired affect.
The user can decide how many boosters are required for however much absorbtion
is required. Though obviously, it can not be stuffed until it's a big round
ball!
The design of this system means that instead of having to buy two types of nappy,
only one is required. When you need to swap between bulky or lightweight just
stuff it in a booster.
The Stuffie Wrap is designed to accompany the Stuffie Nappy for nightime
use and is also made from the same fleece material. There is no waterproof material
used which makes it unsuitable for daytime use, but means that the fabric is fully
breathable throughout the night reducing the risk of skin irritations. There is a
layer of patterned fleece on the outside with 1 layer of plain fleece on the
inside, plus an extra 'soaker' layer of plain fleece just where you need the
extra absorbancy. |
